Most Tech-Savvy Fragrance Winners Are…

Last night, The Fragrance Foundation honored the 2012 FiFi Technological Breakthrough of the Year Award Winners.

Mary Ellen Lapsansky, vice president of The Fragrance Foundation and Terry Molnar, executive director of The Fragrance Foundation attended The 2012 World Perfumery Congress at the MGM Grand in Mashantucket, CT on Thursday, June 14, 2012 to present the Technological Breakthrough FiFi Awards to the winners. This year, The Fragrance Foundation partnered with Perfumer & Flavorist to re-define the categories for the 2012 FiFi Technological Breakthrough of the Year Award to better reflect different types of technological innovations as they relate to fragrance. The fragrances were judged on innovation, sustainability, technology, and interactivity as well as being a delicately-blended, olfactive tour de force created by a master perfumer.

The 2012 FiFi Technological Breakthrough of the Year category was broken down into three sub-categories:

Fragrance Ingredients, Formulation & Testing
Allylix Inc. Sustainable Production of Terpene Fragrance Materials by Fermentation took home the top prize for the category, while International Flavors & Fragrances Inc. LMR Rosewater Essential and Robertet Fragrances, Inc. Nature Spectrum Technology were finalists.

Packaging Technology & Delivery Systems
Firmenich, Inc. The Sephora Sensorium™ (2011) Lucid Dreams Room, Magic by Firmenich and the D4D snagged the award while Belmay with Partylite Scent4Me USB Port Diffuser and Lisa Hoffman Beauty Fine Fragrance Jewelry were finalists.

Information Technology
Givaudan Fragrances Corp. iPerfumer2 was honored the top prize and while Firmenich, Inc. The Sensorium (2011) Lucid Dreams Room and Lisa Hoffman Beauty iScentify Fragrance Finder were recognized as finalists.
